This volume contains a critical edition and translation of the Coptic texts on Abraham of Farshut, the last abbot of the Pachomian monasteries of Upper Egypt in the sixth century. In this study by James E. Goehring, miracle stories give way to the reconstruction of internal debates, political intrigue, the demise of the movement, and the eventual reordering of communal monasticism in Upper Egypt.
