The volume assembles papers held at the 7th International Conference of the Germanic Studies Work Group on Scholarly Editing, focussing either on individual authors or specific editing problems. The individual articles address questions pertaining to the extent to which a specific context influences the production of a work and how such contextual conditions (or dependencies) can be reflected in editing work. With reference to a period ranging from the Middle Ages to the present, both individual and typical contextual influences on work production are illustrated and discussed, with special reference to Dutch and German authors and their literary, musical, theological or historical texts.

Der Band versammelt die autor- und problembezogenen Beiträge der VII. Internationalen Fachtagung der Arbeitsgemeinschaft für germanistische Edition. Die einzelnen Aufsätze gehen auf die Fragen ein, inwieweit ein spezifischer Kontext die Produktion eines Werkes beeinflußt und wie solche Kontextbedingungen oder sogar -abhängigkeiten in der Edition wiederzugeben sind. Vom Mittelalter bis zu den Autoren der Gegenwart werden individuelle und exemplarische Kontexteinflüsse bei der Werkproduktion aufgezeigt, wobei insbesondere niederländische und deutschsprachige Autoren bzw. deren literarische, musikalische, theologische oder historische Texte behandelt werden.
