The essentialization and biologization of gender have enjoyed a recent upsurge in popularity. Flying in the face of 40 years of gender research, there has been a retreat to the bipolar view of gender. The essays in this volume, primarily based on discourse analysis, seek to expand access to the scientifically based contrary view in order to impede such oversimplifications of the world.
