Knowledge has its theatrical side, especially when it relates to the specialized knowledge of experts. Those who carry knowledge stage it deliberately, using particular vocabularies and particular presentation strategies and rituals in their public appearances. This volume is devoted to understanding the nature of such staging of knowledge during premodernity between the 12th and the 18th centuries.
