The Confraternity of the Rosary presented a real innovation in purchasing insurance for the afterlife around 1500. Unlike locally operating brotherhoods, their various branches can be seen as a transregional network. In this way, the confraternity was able to promise its members salvation efficiency when it came to purchasing insurance for the afterlife, which this volume is the first to elucidate by examining a wide range of sources.
