Vol I,2 of the historical-critical edition of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff's works contains the first part of the documentation on the poems published in her lifetime. It covers the sections from "Zeitbilder" to "Scherz und Ernst" in the 1844 edition, the most comprehensive one published by Droste herself. The Introduction takes the form of a detailed account of the preparation and printing of this edition, supplemented by an evaluation and reproduction of the indexes of poems compiled by Droste for use in the 1844 collection.
