This volume addresses the poetics, narratology, epistemology, cultural theory, and praxeology of the anecdotal in various national literatures, genres, and epochs, from antiquity to today. The contributions reveal how anecdotal narrative forms create narrative links between the case or event being presented and general contexts, and how they produce affirmative, evidential as well as subversive, critical effects.
