Based on a corpus of official documents (more than 60,000 words), this study is the first to answer the question about the interdependence of punctuation and syntax in Old French. Working from theoretical reflections and detailed statistical evaluations, the author demonstrates the way in which the presence and type of punctuation were bound up with the syntactic context.

Basée sur un corpus de chartes (plus de 60000 mots), l'étude répond pour la première fois à la question «Comment la ponctuation interagit-elle avec la syntaxe dans la langue française médiévale?». Partant d'une réflexion théorique et se fondant sur des dépouillements statistiques détaillés, l'auteur montre comment la présence et la forme de la ponctuation étaient liées au contexte syntaxique.
