The National Park Service commissions Xiomáro to create photographic collections of historical sites associated with George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, and other iconic figures. In between projects, he artistically documents the street life and architecture of cities and towns. He was described in a PBS episode as "a historian through the lens" while The New York Times noted that his photographs have "an unorthodox look" with a "focus on striking details." He is the author of Street Photography of New York City: Street Haunting in the Big Apple (America Through Time, 2025) and Weir Farm National Historic Site (Arcadia Publishing, 2019).
