Melvin Cooper is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He practiced academic and clinical cardiology for over 50 years in institutions from Hawaii. California, Texas, Michigan to Warsaw, Poland. He has Master's degrees in Bioethics, Philosophy and History and a PhD in History of Ideas from the University of Texas at Dallas, where his primary areas of study were: Philosophy of Science, Holocaust Studies and Literature in Medicine. He has a life-long interest and instruction in the German language and Translation Studies, including courses from the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Texas at Dallas, Department of Translation Studies, the University of Portsmouth in Portsmouth, UK and the German Language School in Berlin, Germany. He is currently Adjunct Professor in the Institute of Medical Humanities at UTMB as well as Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas at Tylerwhere he teaches Bioethics.
