Morocco and the West

Morocco and the West provides a novel analytical lens into Moroccan writing, bringing together chapters on literary fiction and travel writing to explore the interactions between North Africa and the West. As a culturally, linguistically, politically and geographically diverse country, Morocco has sparked the interest of writers worldwide and across a range of disciplines. With the demise of Western empires and the rise of globalization, this volume shows how Moroccan literature and travel writing have navigated the boundaries between the global North and South, thanks to its location and its mosaic of cultures, ethnicities and identities.

Brings together literary fiction and travel writing to offer new insights into cross-cultural interactions Explores Moroccan writing in relation to globalization, cultural hybridization and the large-scale flow of populations Includes critical readings and studies of texts and narratives written by authors from inside and outside of Morocco
