Klappentext

In an increasingly interconnected world, cybersecurity matters to all of us. Cyber threats are growing in parallel with our dependence on cyberspace, compelling us all to be more vigilant and aware of our responsibilities online. Understanding the techniques used by cyber-attackers can help internet-users avoid common mistakes which make us vulnerable to exploitation if our computer systems are infiltrated. In Cyber Threats and Defenses: What Everyone Needs to Know®, Mehmet Bastug provides the foundational knowledge of cyber threats, threat actors, cyber-attacks, and cybersecurity in accessible language. Bastug explains several cybersecurity challenges, including present and future threats. The book offers insights into the crimes committed in cyberspace, the motivations of cyber-criminals and hackers, how a typical cyber-attack unfolds, common hacking techniques, cyber hygiene practices, and emerging trends. Taking a broader perspective on cybersecurity, Bastug combines disciplines to explore cyber threats and attacks. The author draws on his background in criminal justice, international relations, and computer science, presenting criminological theories explaining cyber offending, discussions of international cooperation to address cybercrime, and network communication protocols.
