Beschreibung

The Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) created the first legal framework for the development, marketing and use of AI systems in the EU. The AI Act forms the basis of a regulatory system that is supplemented by delegated acts, guidelines, practical guides and harmonized standards. The EU regulation also establishes a new supervisory structure for AI systems in the EU. The handbook The comprehensibly written handbook offers quick access to the complex regulatory system. It also takes into account, for example, the current guidelines of the EU Commission and the practical guide für General Purpose AI. It becomes clear what companies must prepare for and by when which obligations need to be implemented. You will find answers to initial questions about the new law on artificial intelligence in the EU, precisely and in detail: • Which categories are AI systems divided into and which criteria apply for the risk classification? • What are the obligations for providers and deployers of AI systems? • What requirements are placed on the AI competence required under Art. 4 AI Act? • What is the conformity assessment procedure for high-risk AI systems? • How is compliance with the provisions of the AI Act enforced and what sanctions are imposed in the event of violations? • What requirements must be observed under the AI Act in connection with General Purpose AI (GPAI)? Which copyright aspects are also relevant? • How do the new Product Liability Directive and the AI Act affect liability for AI systems? Your benefit The handbook explains the essential requirements of the AI Act step by step. Affected companies can recognise these in good time and apply them in a legally secure manner. In addition, questions of liability law are dealt with. The handbook thus provides a very good basis for the AI literacy required under Art. 4 AI Act, which also requires legal knowledge. Target groups Companies, lawyers, market surveillance authorities, supervisory authorities, business and consumer associations, research institutions, non-governmental organisations, European institutions. Authors The introductory volume is written by Prof. Dr. Janine Wendt, Head of Department of Civil Law and Corporate Law at the Technical University of Darmstadt and Prof. Dr. Domenik H. Wendt, LL.M., who holds the professorship for Civil Law, European Business Law and European Law at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.
