From the perspective of comprehensive analysis and understanding of Prof. Zheng Hangsheng's sociological theories and notions, this book tries to explore his academic career to become a pioneer, advocate, forerunner and propellent of Theoretical Consciousness (TC) and evaluate scientifically the theoretical value and methodological significance of his thoughts on TC, involving four different dimensions: current situation review and keen perception, disciplinary mission and discourse transformation, knowledge production and practice, topicality and application expansion. so as to deeply grasp the ideological essence of theoretical consciousness and highlight Zheng's important role in the restoration and reconstruction of Chinese sociology. Faxiang Yang , professor, doctoral supervisor, is a chief expert of major projects of The National Social Science Fund of China, and Senior Visiting Scholar of University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada. Currently living in Xuhui District, Shanghai, he is the vice Dean of the School of Social and Public Administration of East China University of Science and Technology, the Dean of the postdoctoral research mobile station of Sociology, the director of the Institute of Applied Sociology, the National High-level Talents Program Selectee, the cultural celebrity and "Four Batch" talents of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, and the New century excellent talents supported by the Ministry of Education.
