This book features a selection of papers presented at the 15th International Conference Economies of the Balkan and Eastern European Countries (EBEEC), held at the University of the Aegean in Chios, Greece, May 12-14, 2023. The EBEEC conference serves as an annual meeting of policy makers from Eastern European and Balkan countries as well as scientists. More than 300 researchers and students attended the conference and presented their work in parallel sessions.

This volume deals with various aspects of economic growth, prosperity and (environmental, social and economic) sustainability of countries in the region in the context of globalization and digitalization. It also examines topics such as consumer behavior towards new products and services, human capital, teleworking, the food market, international trade and foreign direct investment. In turn, the book proposes frameworks and solutions to help countries deal with and manage the complex local and global environment.

Maria Mavri is a Professor of Quantitative Methods at the University of the Aegean in Greece and a member of the Board of Directors of the same university. Her research interests lie in the field of sustainable development, 3D printing and operations research.

Patricia Ikouta Mazza is a Adjunct Professor of Sustainability at the University of the Aegean in Greece. Her research interests focus on sustainable development, digital convergence and smart development of a region.

Anastasios Karasavvoglou is a Professor of Economics at the International Hellenic University in Greece and President of the annual international conference "Economies of the Balkan and Eastern European Countries". He has published numerous books and papers on immigration, regional development and the labor market.

Persefoni Polychronidou is an Associate Professor of Quanitative Methods at the Department of Economic Sciences at the International Hellenic University in Greece. Her research focuses on statistical and data analysis and she has published numerous papers on empirical economic data. She is the co-editor of the International Journal of Business and Economic Sciences Applied Research.
