This book presents innovative research and its applications in the development of transportation infrastructure, and discusses the latest trends, challenges and unsolved problems in the field of transport technology. Dipankar Deb completed his Ph.D. at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville with Prof. Gang Tao, IEEE Fellow and Professor of the ECE Department in 2007. In 2017, he was elected to be an IEEE Senior Member. He has served as a Lead Engineer at GE Global Research Bengaluru (201215) and as an Assistant Professor of EE at the IIT Guwahati (201012). He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Institute of Infrastructure Technology Research and Management. He is also a Student Startup and Innovation Project Coordinator at IITRAM, where he mentors students on Intellectual Property rights (patents). 

Valentina Emilia Balas is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Automatics and Applied Software, Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, Romania. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Electronics and Telecommunications from the Polytechnic University of Timisoara. Dr. Balas is the author of more than 250 research papers in refereed journals and international conference proceedings. Her research interests are in Intelligent Systems, Fuzzy Control, Soft Computing, Smart Sensors, Information Fusion, Modeling and Simulation. She is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Advanced Intelligence Paradigms (IJAIP) and the International Journal of Computational Systems Engineering (IJCSysE), a member of the Editorial Board for several national and international journals, and director of the Intelligent Systems Research Centre at Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad. She is a member of EUSFLAT, SIAM and a Senior Member of the IEEE, as well as a member of the TC Fuzzy Systems (IEEE CIS), TC Emergent Technologies (IEEE CIS), and TC Soft Computing (IEEE SMCS).

Rajeeb Dey is presently working with the National Institute of Technology, Silchar, Assam, India, as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering. Before joining the NIT Silchar, he served at Sikkim Manipal University, Sikkim, for 12 years in various positions (Lecturer, Reader and Associate Professor). His research interests are in Time-delay Systems and Control, Robust Control, Control of Biomedical Systems, and Applications of Wireless Communication in Control. He is presently a reviewer for many SCI(E) journals related to control engineering and applied mathematics. He is a senior member of the IEEE, CSS, Life Member of the System Society of India, and a member of the Institution of Engineers (India).

Jiten Shah Ph.D., is Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, IITRAM, Ahmedabad. His areas of specialization include vehicular and human behavior, transportation planning, trafc facility design, modelling in transportation, trafc ow modelling including non-motorized trafc. He is guiding a Ph.D. student on pedestrian ow behavior and has guided four M.Tech. theses. He was involved in the project Supra Institutional Network Project for Development of Indian Highway Capacity Manual (Indo-HCM) funded by Planning Commission of India under 12th Five-Year Plan as a part of his research work. He has several publications to his credit in reputed international and national journals. He is a recipient of the gold medal from The Gujarat Institute of Civil Engineers and Architects (GICEA). He is a reviewer for the journals such as Transportation Letters, Taylor & Francis, Journal of Trafc and Transportation Engineering, Transportation Research Record, TRB, World Review of Intermodal Transportation Research. He is also a member of renowned society/institute including Transportation Research Group of India, Institute of Urban Transportation (India), and The Institute of Engineers (India).
