In recent decades, historians have turned their attention to the aristocracy. They have looked at the aristocracy in ancient times, the Middle Ages, and modernity, thus sharpening perspectives and enabling discussions that go beyond the boundaries of epoch. Yet a historiographical chronology of the contemporary aristocracy remains to be developed. This is the mission of the present study.
