Germany's Staatsrechtslehre - the theory of national public law - is currently in conflict over the concept of state and constitution. As were their Weimar predecessors, German legal scholars are faced with profound political transformation, this time in the shape of Europeanisation and globalisation. Verena Frick's study analyses writings on state and constitution in the country from 1979 onwards and presents a typology of today's thinking.
