The volume is the first monograph in German on the morphology of Italian. It comprises an introduction to the basic terminology of morphology, a description of noun, verb and adjective inflexion extending to peculiarities conditioned by morphonologic and semantic factors, and finally an extensive chapter on word-formation, covering the interplay between word formation and other areas of the language as well as a description of the various derivation mechanisms and compounding procedures to be found in Italian. There is also an annexe containing a German-Italian glossary of linguistic terms used in the book.
