Cinematic structures in literature have generally been examined from the perspective of intermediality theory, thereby neglecting some particular features of cinematic narrative. The author develops an analytic model based on narratology and sensitivity to context, offering insights into the typological spectrum of cinematic narrative and its history from the 19 th century until the present day.
