Gröschner's expeditions into the Socratic Method, and the principle of dialogue in particular, have inspired the contributors to theorise about the rebirth of ancient European legal traditions and dogmatics.

This volume draws from essays and tractates of the public law professor and legal philosopher Rolf Gröschner of Germany's Jena University and forges them into the nuclei of his life's work. Eighteen papers composed by his friends and companions explore the scholarly debates which the laureate's treatises have prompted and shaped. The contributions are aimed at revitalising the principle of the constitutional republic, i. e. essentially rematerialising its traditional precepts and the tenets of the legal relationship as fundamentals of republican legal concepts that have faded somewhat under the influence of German Basic Law.
