Sponsoring als Schlüsselbegriff im Zusammenhang mit der Finanzierung sportlicher, kultureller oder sozialer Aktivitäten und zugleich als wichtiges Instrument der Unternehmenskommunikation wurde im deutschen Recht bislang nur ansatzweise erfasst. Renate Schaub stellt Sponsoringverträge in den größeren Zusammenhang von Verträgen zur Förderung überindividueller Zwecke, analysiert und systematisiert diese Rechtsgeschäfte und entwickelt Regeln zu ihrer zivilrechtlichen Erfassung sowie zur Rechtsgestaltung. Darauf aufbauend wird der Typus des Sponsoringvertrags als Rechtsgeschäft, bei dem der Gesponserte eine Kommunikationsleistung erbringt und dafür vom Sponsor eine Förderleistung erhält, als Grundlage der vertragsrechtlichen Beurteilung konkretisiert. Die Autorin erörtert auch die Bezüge der untersuchten Rechtsgeschäfte zu anderen Rechtsgebieten, insbesondere zum Lauterkeits- und Medienrecht.
