This first sub-volume of the travelogues includes Travels in England in 1782 and the associated essay Letter from London. Moritz describes his travels, undertaken mainly on foot in letters to a friend in Berlin. The text has been edited in accordance with the sources, including all variants, and is presented with extensive biographical, geographical, cultural-historical, and language-related commentary.
