Rolf Glasmeier (19452003) was an artist, graphic designer and exhibitions organizer who left an important mark on the art scene of the Ruhr region from the 1960s onwards. After training at Ulm School of Design, he developed an internationally acclaimed style, which combined geometric abstraction, serial structures and audience participation. His interactive sculptures are intended to be touched and their configurations altered. In the 1970s, he adopted new materials and turned his attention to themes, such as mass consumption and recycling. His entire oeuvre was shaped by humanistic thought and the conviction that art could be a space in which society might be interrogated and changed. To markt he retrospective exhibition at Kunstmuseum Gelesenkirchen, this richly illustrated catalog, the historic photographaps and its accompanying essays comprehensively examine and honour Glasmeier's entire multimedia ouevre ranging from sculpture, photgraphy and graphic art to actions within the public realm.

Michael Glasmeier is an art historian, exhibitions organizer, poet and Barock-DJ. From 1992 to 2016 he taught at the University of Weimar, Braunschweig and Bremen, amongst others. Vanessa Joan Mü ller pursued a degree in art history and film studies in Bochum. She worked at the Frankfurter Kunstverein, directed the Dü sseldorf Kunstverein and was Head of Dramaturgy Department at Kunsthalle Wien. Since 2020, she works as a freelance author and curator with a focus on contemporary art. Barbara Martin undertook degrees in art history and applied cultural studies in Karlsruhe, and curatorial studies and art journalism in Bochum. Her specialist focus is on prints and drawings from the 19th century to the present. As part of her curatorial career, she has held posts at the Landesmuseum Hannover, Galerie Stihl Weiblingen, Stä dtische Museen Heilbronn, and Kunstmuseum Bonn. Julia Hö ner pursued degrees in cultural studies and contemporary art curating in Hildesheim and London. After working at the Lenbachhaus in Munich and the European Kunsthalle in Cologne, she held the post of artistic director of KAI 10 / Arthena Foundation in Dü sseldorf between 2018 and 2022. Se was appointed director of the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen in December 2022. Following a post as a research assistant at the Museum Abteiberg Mö nchengladbach, she has been the head of collections at the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen since September 2023.
