The Mixtec grammar - Arte en lengua mixteca - by Antonio de los Reyes, first published in México in 1593, is presented in a new edition with linguistic analysis. It also includes two 16th-century manuscripts from Monterrey and Puebla in order to present all relevant sources and their intertextual relationships. Previously, the work was available in an edition from 1889, which is only partially reliable and is based on a handwritten transcription of a copy of the first edition. The present edition offers a more reliable and accessible version, which also provides a linguistic analysis of the texts.

Michael Dürr studierte an der FU Berlin Altamerikanistik und Linguistik. 1987 bis 2021 in Göttingen und Berlin Tätigkeit als Bibliothekar, parallel Lehrtätigkeit an der FU Berlin in Altamerikanistik und Linguistischer Anthropologie, seit 2008 als Honorarprofessor. Forschungsschwerpunkte: Sprachen und indigene Texte aus Mesoamerika (Hochland von Guatemala und Oaxaca) und aus dem nordpazifischen Raum (British Columbia, Kamtschatka).
