When it comes to courts, German jurisprudence traditionally mainly occupies itself with questions regarding the courts' interpretation of the law. Questions concerning the creation of the factual basis of decisions are scarcely dealt with. This observation applies even more to administrative than civil and criminal courts. Maria Geismann aims to help close the gap by examining the administrative courts' constitutional legitimacy, their duty to establish the truth, and the specific role of state administration in court proceedings.
