Ilka Klöckner deals with the importance of foreign precedents in interpreting uniform European law. Common ground of the ongoing discussion regarding the reform of the preliminary ruling proceedings is the need to limit the caseload of the European Court of Justice. In order to guarantee the protection of the uniformity of EU law, this dissertation suggests an increasing role of the national courts combined with a 'relative European stare decisis'.
