Hartmann von Aue, um 1165 - um 1210. Zur Biographie des mhd. Lyrikers und Epikers gibt es nur punktuelle Hinweise in seinen Werken. Er gehörte nach eigener Aussage dem Ministerialenstand an und besaß eine lat. Schulbildung. Wem er diente, wo er die Bildung erwarb, wer ihn förderte, ist nicht bekannt, ebenso wenig, auf welchen Ort im Südwesten sich Hartmanns von Ouwe als Herkunfts- oder Dienstort bezieht. H.s Werk entstand ungefähr zwischen 1180 und 1205.
