This book discusses the categories of temporality, aspectuality, and modality and analyzes how these are made up and function in the Romance languages. The study particularly focuses on verbs and their grammatical features, yet it also considers other linguistic means. The description is based on a functional understanding of grammar, taking into account the interaction between the different categories as well as recent research trends.
