Volume IV/18 publishes for the first time five notebooks and five excerpted volumes by Marx from the period 18641868 on agriculture, agricultural chemistry, the agrarian system, and economic rent theory. The heart of the volume focuses on "ecological" questions related to soil depletion, climate change, and the limits of natural resources, which Marx links to the increasingly capitalist management of agriculture.
