The new 2023 edition contains a completely new commentary on the introduction to the BGB, which places the law by name within its European context. Moreover, the commentary places significant emphasis on changes in the areas of sexual identity and self-determination, and the law of descent that have already been or are soon to be brought about by medical advances and the introduction of "marriage for all."
