The volume contains the illustrated flysheets from the period 1570-1588 to be found in the oldest extant collection of picture journalism, the Wickiana in Zurich. The notes and comments discuss the collection in terms of the manuscript situation and locate the individual flysheets historically and iconologically against the background of the mentality and the intellectual climate of the early Modern Age.
