Das Thema des japanischen Bürgschaftsrechts ist von besonderer Aktualität, steht es doch im Fokus einer anhaltenden rechtspolitischen Diskussion in Japan, im Zuge derer am 26. Mai 2017 die zweite umfangreiche Reform des Bürgschaftsrechts innerhalb weniger Jahre beschlossen wurde. Im Zentrum der Auseinandersetzung stehen Fragen nach dem Schutz des Bürgen vor Überforderung und nach den Auswirkungen von bürgenschützenden Regelungen auf den Kreditmarkt, die sich auch in Deutschland stellen. Gleichwohl ist dieses Thema bislang in deutscher Sprache kaum erschlossen. Christopher Vogl schließt diese Lücke und veranschaulicht die aktuellen Entwicklungen in Japan, um sie nachvollziehbar und für die deutsche Diskussion nutzbar zu machen.
