Corneille's theater is a theater of decisions. In six case studies, this volume examines his canonic stage texts from the years 163643 by applying the methods of intellectual history: material-rich references to the political thinking of the time allow the decisionistic leitmotif of the decision come to light in contingent starting situations and not just in the case of heroes and kings but also the author himself.
