The study presents societal discourse on the status of Andalusian as a language, dialect, or local variant, starting from the basic principles of variation linguistics and linguistic anthropology. Using a newly developed method, it investigates the multiple social contexts in which Andalusian is discursively employed as a way to identify the respective (re)valorizations.

Die Studie behandelt gesellschaftliche Diskurse zur Stellung des Andalusischen im Spannungsfeld von Sprache, Dialekt und lokalen Mundarten, ausgehend von Grundannahmen der Variationslinguistik sowie der linguistischen Anthropologie. Anhand einer neu entwickelten Methode werden mehrere soziale Bereiche untersucht, in denen das Andalusische diskursiv verhandelt wird, um die jeweilige (Re-)Valorisierung zu identifizieren.
