Karin Schweizer wurde 1965 in Schramberg im Schwarzwald geboren. Nach Ihrer Ausbildung als Reiseverkehrsfrau ging sie nach Paris an die Sorbonne und nach San Fransico zur University of California, Berkeley. Zurück in Deutschland - mit einem amerikanischen Mann (mit dem sie zwei inzwischen erwachsene Kinder hat) - gründete sie, vor fast 20 Jahren, gemeinsam mit Beate Baylie die bel Sprachschule. Aus dieser langjährigen und vielfältigen praktischen Arbeit, in deren Mittelpunkt das stressfreie Lernen mit Freude steht, entstanden etablierte und viel genutzte Lehrwerke wie Learning Englisch with Chris the Grasshopper, Mini Ducks, umfassendes Lehr- und Begleitmaterial für Lehrer und Autumn Years Englisch lernen für Senioren eine etablierte Sprachlernreihe für die Generation 55plus. Daneben gibt es den Reiseveranstalters bel Reisen.
