This discourse study systematically combines qualitative and quantitative methods to investigate the forms and strategies that evoke agonistics and mark conflicts in German and English. Applying a multi-layer discourse method for linguistic comparison, the author examines media coverage of two instances of interaction between humans and nature: fracking for energy production and Hurricane Sandy (2012).
