"Covering the entire range of contents and methods of Büchner-related research, the Georg Büchner Jahrbuch is to serve as a forum for stocktaking and innovation, reflection and debate, source documentation and easy communication, discussion and mutual understanding". Ever since setting this goal in the preface to Volume 1 (1981), the Büchner Yearbook has been striving to achieve its aim in all of its regularly published sections (Essays- Debates- Short Contributions and Commentaries- Documents and Materials - Reviews). With 100 contributions from 14 countries, wide acclaim not only from experts and, last but by no means least, the development of Büchner-related research as such, the Büchner Yearbook has turned out a great success.

The Georg Büchner Yearbook is intended as a forum for taking stock and for innovation, reflection, discussion, source documentation, and rapid communication, for debate and consensus, and to consider the full scope of research findings and discussions. The Yearbook pursues this goal in sections devoted to papers, debates, documents and materials, and reviews.
