Safety of Sodium-Cooled Fast Reactors

This book highlights the advances and trends in the safety analysis of sodium-cooled fast reactors, especially from the perspective of particle bed-related phenomena during core disruptive accidents. A sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR) is an optimized candidate of the next-generation nuclear reactor systems. Its safety is a critical issue during its R&D process. The book elaborates on research progresses in particle bed-related phenomena in terms of the molten-pool mobility, the molten-pool sloshing motion, the debris bed formation behavior, and the debris bed self-leveling behavior. Songbai CHENG:
Prof. Songbai CHENG is presently the leader of the Advanced Nuclear Energy System Research Group at the Sino-French Institute of Nuclear Engineering & Technology, Sun Yat-Sen University in China. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2011 from the Department of Nuclear Engineering, Kyushu University, Japan. After that, he worked at Kyushu University and the Japan Atomic Energy Agency before joining Sun Yat-Sen University. His main research fields are thermal hydraulics and safety analyses of liquid metal-cooled fast reactor.
Ruicong XU:
Ruicong Xu conducts research in severe accident analyses of sodium-cooled fast reactors at the Advanced Nuclear Energy System Research Group at the Sino-French Institute of Nuclear Engineering & Technology, Sun Yat-Sen University in China.
