Gladiadores. Los Soldados de la Arena

Klappentext

For seven centuries, the munera gladiatoria were one of the pillars upon which Rome built its identity, social cohesion, and political power. Gladiators were slaves and free men, foreigners and citizens, social outcasts and idols of the masses capable of stirring the admiration of children and the desire of aristocratic women. They trained with military discipline, followed carefully calculated diets, lived in a community, and--when they fell in the arena--could receive a dignified burial and an epitaph.
