We present an improved and enlarged version of our book Nonlinear - namics of Chaotic and Stochastic Systems published by Springer in 2002. Basically, the new edition of the book corresponds to its ?rst version. While preparingthiseditionwemadesomeclari?cationsinseveralsectionsandalso corrected the misprints noticed in some formulas. Besides, three new sections have been added to Chapter 2. They are Statistical Properties of Dynamical Chaos, E?ects of Synchronization in Extended Self-Sustained Oscillatory Systems, and Synchronization in Living Systems. The sections indicated re?ect the most interesting results obtained by the authors after publication of the ?rst edition. Prof. Dr. Vadim S. Anishchenko is Head of Radiophysics and Nonlinear Dynamics Chair and the scientific supervisor of the Laboratory of Nonlinear Dynamics of Saratov State University. He is a specialist in the field of theory of oscillations, statistical radiophysics and nonlinear dynamics and the author of seven scientific monographs, three text-books and of more than 200 journal articles. Prof. Anishchenko is an Honored Man of Sciences of Russia, a corresponding member of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and Soros Professor. In 1999 he was elected the recipient of a Humboldt Research Award.
