The first biography of Vincent Harding (1931-2014)--Civil Rights activist, historian, religious scholar, peacemaker It invites readers into the back story of the civil rights movement, narrates Harding's life-long efforts to broaden democracy, and offers a fresh take on the role of religion in the movement. But, even more centrally, the book tells the fascinating story of the development, formation, and experiences of a highly influential advisor and strategist to countless luminaries of the racial justice struggle in the U.S. As Harding described his life story, he was, indeed, "storied into being."
