This book provides a comprehensive exploration of how smart and emerging technologies can help societies mitigate and adapt to the accelerating impacts of climate change. It brings together cutting-edge research, practical innovations, and real-world applications to demonstrate how digital intelligencespanning AI, IoT, geospatial systems, digital twins, robotics, and smart infrastructurecan strengthen climate resilience across key sectors. As climate risks intensify worldwide, traditional approaches are no longer sufficient; this book highlights how data-driven tools are enabling faster predictions, more efficient resource management, and adaptive responses that protect communities and ecosystems. The volume examines two interconnected pillars: mitigation, which focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions through smart energy systems, low-carbon mobility, climate-aware urban design, and intelligent agriculture; and adaptation, which leverages predictive analytics, environmental sensor networks, satellite-based monitoring, automated water systems, and resilience-oriented planning to prepare for floods, droughts, heatwaves, and other climate hazards. By integrating case studies, conceptual frameworks, and technological insights, the book shows how digital platforms can deliver early warning systems, optimize renewable energy, modernize food production, and support climate-smart governance. A central theme is the need to bridge technological innovation with social inclusion. The book addresses challenges such as the digital divide, affordability, ethical use of data, and the governance of AI in climate systems. It emphasizes the importance of accessible, scalable, and culturally appropriate solutionsparticularly for vulnerable and resource-constrained regions that face the greatest climate risks. Through interdisciplinary contributions, the work underscores how smart technologies can transform environmental management while supporting sustainable development goals. This book is designed for researchers, policymakers, practitioners, technologists, educators, and graduate students seeking to understand how digital innovations can drive effective, equitable, and future-ready climate action.

Provides comprehensive coverage of smart technologies for climate mitigation and adaptation across sectors Integrates AI, IoT, digital twins, and blockchain for climate-resilient infrastructure and decision-making Highlights community-centric and justice-oriented approaches for sustainable climate-smart development
