This book examines the uneven and often politicized application of human rights norms across the global system. The book argues that, despite the universal language of international human rights law, its enforcement is frequently shaped by power dynamics, geopolitical interests, and selective accountability. It critically explores how powerful states and international institutions apply human rights standards inconsistently-often condemning violations in weaker states while overlooking or justifying similar actions by allies or themselves. Through case studies, legal analysis, and historical context, the work highlights patterns of bias in areas such as conflict, counterterrorism, sanctions, and humanitarian intervention. The book also evaluates the role of major global actors, international organizations, and media narratives in reinforcing these double standards. It questions the credibility and effectiveness of the current human rights regime and its claim to universality. In response, the author calls for a more equitable, transparent, and principled framework for enforcing human rights.

He serves as a member of the National Peace Council of Pakistan and holds a leadership role in human rights initiatives in Pakistan.
