The Shell Channel Pilot is the ultimate authority on sailing the busy and alluring waters of the English Channel, including the south coast of England from the Isles of Scilly to North Foreland, the Channel Islands and north France.
This edition welcomes a new era and the next generation as journalist, author and Yachtmaster Examiner Rachael Sprot takes the helm. She has completely rewritten the Pilot based on first Hand research over several seasons, and this new work combines rigorous, authoritative passage notes, expert advice about navigation, regulations and paperwork with her gentle humour and respect for the legends of nautical writing that penned this book before her.

This completely re-written new edition features:

• comprehensive passage notes
• advice on navigation, regulations and paperwork
• pilotage notes
• familiar imray cartography, aerial photos and an overview of useful facilities
• Ashore sections featuring local history and information
The Pilot has a long and illustrious history, with the first edition published in the 1930s. Following the pioneering work of the legendary Adlard Coles, the book was passed to Captain John Coote RN in 1982, and subsequently to the inimitable Tom Cunliffe. It has been under the Imray imprint since the early 1990s.
