This proceedings volume provides an international forum for the discussion of current research on high k-dielectric, electrical insulation, dielectric phenomena, and topics related to emerging applications, including applications in biomedical technologies, energy harvesting, materials for critical infrastructure, and smart materials. The goal of the ISyDMA conference series is to provide an innovative platform for key researchers, and scientists from all over the world to exchange ideas and hold wide-ranging discussions on recent developments in dielectric materials and their new and emerging applications. Ashok Vaseashta received Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering (minor in Electrical Engineering) from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Virginia, USA. He is Principal Researcher and Executive Director of Research for International Clean Water Institute in VA, USA, Chaired Professor of Nanotechnology at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova and Professor, at the Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania. Prior to his current position, he served as Vice Provost (Rector) for Research at the Molecular Science Research Center in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He served as visiting professor at the 3 Nano-SAE Research Centre, University of Bucharest, Romania and visiting scientist at the Helen and Martin Kimmel Center of Nanoscale Science at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. He served the U.S. Department of State in two rotations, as strategic S&T advisor and U.S. diplomat. Inspired by nature, his research interests span nanotechnology,environmental/ecological science, and safety and security. His research on nanotechnology has been on improving the understanding, design, and performance of nanofibers and sensors/detectors, mainly for applications such as wearable electronics, target drug delivery, detection of biomarkers, and toxicity of nano and xenobiotic materials. In the security arena, he has worked on counterterrorism, countering unconventional warfare and hybrid threats, critical infrastructure protection, biosecurity, dual-use research concerns, and mitigating hybrid threats. He has authored over 350 research publications, edited/authored twenty books on nanotechnology, and presented many keynotes and invited lectures worldwide. He serves on the editorial board of several highly reputed international journals. He is an active member of several national and international professional organizations. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society, a life member of the Institution of Electrical and ElectronicsEngineers, and a fellow of the Institute of Nanotechnology and the New York Academy of Sciences. He has earned several other fellowships and awards for his meritorious service including 2004/2005 Distinguished Artist and Scholar award ACHOUR Mohammed Essaid received his "Thèse de 3ème cycle" from The Bordeaux University (France) and "Thèse d'état" from the Moulay Ismail University of Meknes (Morocco) degrees in field of Physics in 1983 and 1991 respectively. From 1983 to 1992 he was an "Maitre assistant", at Sciences Faculty of Meknes (Morocco), "Maitre de Conférence" (1992-1996) and Professor. He joined the Sciences Faculty at Kenitra in 1999. From 1997 to 2011, he was also teacher with Royal Military Academy at Meknes. He is Expert evaluator, member of the scientific committee of the National Center for Scientific and Technical Research (CNRST), The Moroccan Center for Innovation (CIM) and he is Chair and founder member of Moroccan Association of the Advanced Materials (A2MA). He is honorary guest professor at Brest University in France and visiting scientist/researcher at different universities and research Centers in France, Canada, Portugal, Hungary, Italy and Tunisia. His research interests include electromagnetic and electrical properties, microwave characterization and dielectric responses of the composite materials: carbon dots, graphene, carbon nanotubes, carbon black, and natural fibers in the natural or synthetic polymers.
