The suggestion to write a relevant overview in English including the terminology, the historical development, the normative framework and the current status in Germany goes back to several lectures given by the author at various institutions: for example at the Faculty of Law of the University of Split, the Esslingen University of Applied Sciences and at a conference of the Institute for Eastern European Law in Regensburg. Relevant materials have already been published in Russian and Ukrainian.
