Klappentext

Fierce, reflective, and grounded in lived relation, Living Indigenous Practice offers a powerful account of how story can interrupt colonial habit and make survival, for people and land, thinkable again. Colonial violence does not only live in spectacular events. It survives in everyday habits-how land is claimed, how justice is imagined, and how people rush to act before they have learned to listen. Through memoir, story, and critique, Olivia Guntarik traces how settler possession shapes the self, enters institutions, and makes genuine relation difficult before it has begun. In dialogue with Hannah Arendt's thinking on violence, thoughtlessness, and time, Guntarik demonstrates how autoethnography can become a rigorous practice of attention. The book moves across ancestral memory, protest, landlessness, storywork, education, and the limits of political certainty, asking what must be unsettled in the self before living Indigenous practice can be met with humility, care, and consequence.
