What do you get when you combine basketball and a 7-ft. 4-in tall, 8-ft. wingspan player? A talent unlike anything the NBA has ever seen before.

Born into a family of athletes, Wembanyama's journey began in the suburbs of Paris where he would excel at many sports before turning his full attention to basketball. Physically imposing from an early age, Wembanyama soon caught the attention of French team Nanterre 92, where he progressed though the ranks rapidly before being loaned and transferred to other teams across the world.

Inevitably, he migrated to the NBA - a natural progression for a player who was rapidly outgrowing the European leagues he'd made his name in and he became San Antonio Spurs' first overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft - the first Frenchman to achieve the feat and only the second ever European. His lethal combination of height, speed, agility and ambition means that "Wemby" is leading the next generation of basketball players. Unanimously named Rookie of the Year in 2024, the youngest player to be named Defensive Player of the Year and an MVP finalist, he is carrying - or dribbling - basketball into the future.

Get to know the 22 year-old who is changing the face of basketball in The Little Guide to Victor Wembanyama. Packed full of stats, facts and quotes, this book is a slam dunk for any basketball fan.
