The most important scientific contribution of the book is an innovative adaptation of the landscape sustainable evaluation methods implemented at the degraded area. It is one of the first geographic cases of sustainable evaluation of the regionally limited area with the specific landscape structure and the genesis of the past development. The author made a holistic and balanced evaluation of the economics, landscape and social indicators. The work should be a crucial platform for the developmental energy investment and decisions at the local, regional or national level.

Natalija peh ha discusso la sua tesi di dottorato nell'anno 2004 presso l'Università di Lubiana, Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia, Dipartimento di Geografia, con il tema Valutazione sostenibile dei capitali di superficie. È stata preside e attualmente lavora presso l'Environmental Protection College di Velenje come docente e ricercatrice in aree rurali e in vari progetti ambientali.
